CONTROL QUESTION: How do you role model an effective corporate culture of teamwork at board level, including making effective use of non executive directors?

Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) for 10 years from now:

In 10 years, my ultimate goal for Effective Teamwork is to establish a corporate culture of exceptional teamwork at the highest level within our company. As a leader and role model, I aim to foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and open communication that permeates throughout the organization, starting with the board of directors.

One of the key ways in which I plan to achieve this is by effectively utilizing our non-executive directors (NEDs). These NEDs bring a wealth of experience, diverse perspectives, and impartial judgement to the table. I believe harnessing their expertise and leveraging their unique insights will be crucial in creating a high-performing team at the board level.

To achieve this goal, I will begin by intentionally selecting NEDs who not only have relevant industry knowledge and experience, but also share our company′s values and commitment to teamwork. I will work closely with them to ensure they understand and align with our organizational goals and objectives, and ask for their input and guidance on matters that impact the company′s overall performance.

As the CEO, I will make it a priority to actively involve NEDs in important decisions and invite them to participate in strategic discussions. By doing so, I hope to not only tap into their diverse expertise but also demonstrate the value and importance we place on collaboration and input from all members of the board.

I also recognize the need for continual development and improvement in fostering an effective corporate culture of teamwork. Therefore, I will implement regular training and development programs for both executive and non-executive directors to enhance their understanding and appreciation of teamwork and its impact on organizational success.

Ultimately, my goal is for the entire board to exemplify a culture of mutual respect, support, and collective responsibility towards achieving our company′s strategic objectives. This will set the tone for effective teamwork throughout the organization and pave the way for sustainable growth and success.
